XRF

X-Ray Fluorescence is a non-destructive, rapid analytical technology which is used to determine the elemental composition of any given sample. This is extremely useful in the mineral mining and energy industries for geologists and engineers trying to understand the chemical properties of rocks, minerals, sediments, and fluids; with the ability to define mappable surfaces as well.

What is the difference between XRF and XRD?

XRD is used to identify the mineralogy of a substance, whereas XRF determines the elemental composition of said substance.

What is the benefit of using both?

Continuous downhole mineralogical models can be created by converting elemental data from XRF into XRD-style mineralogy.

Hyperspectral Imaging

Hyperspectral Imaging is a relatively new and emerging technology with a wide array of industry applications. Hyperspectral imaging captures beyond the visible spectra of light, hence the term hyperspectral.

With TerraCore (Reno, Nevada), we are offering a full suite of hyperspectral imaging including short wave infrared (SWIR), visible near infrared (VNIR), scanning RGB, and thermal or long-wave infrared spectrometers (LWIR). The thermal or long-wave infrared (LWIR) spectrometer is critical for determining silicate mineralogy like quartz and feldspar.
